The trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens with a voiceover from Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as he proudly strolls around town after saving the universe from Thanos. “Scott, you’re an ex-convict…how are you an Avenger?” he said, and while being mistaken for Spider-Man everywhere, Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” plays in the background. It then goes to the laboratory of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), where Ron’s daughter Cassie (Katherine Newton) discovers a way to connect with the quantum realm, a dimension in the multiverse , which can only be accessed via Pym particles or quantum tunneling. The realm was previously mentioned in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, where Ant-Man came up with the idea of diving in and getting an alternate version of the Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos.

Things get messed up for the Ant-Man family, however, as they’re all drawn to Cassie’s bizarre invention and transported to an amazing subatomic quantum realm filled with wild animals like Disney’s upcoming animated film Like a strange world. While the rebellious Cassie doesn’t understand the complexities behind traveling to multiple dimensions, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) seems to have experienced some terrible things during the time she spent there. “It’s a secret universe below us,” she tells her daughter, Hope Van Dine (Evangeline Lilly). “There’s something I never told you.” It turns out that the quantum realm isn’t just a quirky subatomic plane, but a huge, highly developed city ruled by Jonathan Major’s conqueror Kang. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also briefly features Bill Murray (a French dispatch), but there is no word on his role. This marks his first appearance in the MCU.

Kang makes first appearance in Disney+ series led by Tom Hiddleston Rocky, under the moniker “The Left One”. However, the protagonist in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Fever trailer is a hostile mutant who plans to flee the realm after seemingly striking a deal with Lang. “If you help me, I can send you home and give you more time,” he said. “So, what would it be, Ant-Man?” Given that this lays the groundwork for the Avengers movie — Avengers: Kang Dynasty is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025 — it’s safe to say that Lang either accepts Follow this proposal, or be defeated by the supervillain.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens in theaters worldwide on February 17, 2023. Marvel also released a trailer for the Ant-Size version, which was shrunk down to a small box.
